The program was designed to educate Arethusa New Members in the values, rituals, and heritage of the sorority through the use of specific activities and tasks.

Each of these activities has a specific purpose and relevance in the education process.

The program incorporates the Arethusa Sorority's ideals and heritage with the following:

-  Academics

-  Community Service

-  Communication and Organizational Skills

-  Self-Awareness

-  Teamwork

The Arethusa Covenant governs the Laurel New Membership Program.

The Arethusa Covenant specifically describes the conduct policies and expectations of each member of the sorority, and that the members of the sorority agree to abide by the conduct policies of the college/university.

It is also an agreement between the women offered membership to the Arethusa Sorority and the sisters of Arethusa Sorority - Sigma Gamma Phi.
